We are a group of women living in London who follow the teachings of Jesus Christ through worship, bible study, and ministry. We are passionate about the Bible and making the lives of those in our communities better by practicing authentic Christianity suitable for the modern world.
We accept anyone who wants to grow closer to God into our women’s ministry family. Mothers, sisters, aunts, cousins, singles, wives, young, and old, if you want to study the scripture alongside other Godly women and discus the challenges of being a Christian woman in today’s church, we can’t wait for you to join us.
We encourage and support each other in following God’s word and wisdom , believe in the eternal life mapped out in the gospel (John 3:16), and provide the opportunity for every women to find the path laid out for them by god.
What is Christian Women’s ministry?
The London Church of Christ congregation is as diverse as London itself and women from all different walks of life attend our women’s ministry.
We are the daughters of God and each as highly valued and important as each other in the eyes of the Lord.
As Christian women, we are called upon to pick up the cross and follow Jesus (Matthew 16:24) but in a fast paced action packed world, it can be all too easy to lose our way.
With a career, studies, hobbies, home, and family to balance, finding the time and space to make our relationships with God our number one priority can be tough. Our Women’s ministry gives us a chance to regain focus and reaffirm our commitment alongside our Godly friends, both old and new.
Our mission at London Church Women’s ministry is to help each other pick up the cross and remind each other that His way is higher that ours and by surrendering to Him, we will find our rest (Matthew 11:28-30).
Does God think less of women than men?
The patriarchal nature of modern society can often make it feel as though men are given preference to women in all aspects of life.
Reading the Bible, at first, does little to assuage this feeling with a dominance of male voices and characters. The stall is set out pretty early in this regard, with woman made to be the companion of man at the very start of Genesis 1.
If the Bible is God’s guidebook for life does that mean that He prefers men? No! God’s people are all equal in His eyes and both men and women are given equal standing when it comes to salvation.
Often, when the Bible speaks of man, it refers to mankind, not the male sex, and many universal statements are made using masculine language. In Galatians 4:6-7, for example, Paul writes that we are saved as we are sons of God, despite the fact he is referring to both men and women.
Many modern translations of the Bible have replaced the word man with humanity when the reference is to mankind and not an individual or group to help clarify this and make the word less off-putting to first time readers who may not be used to the style of writing.
Anyone who truly commits themselves to God is given the inheritance of the holy spirit and the kingdom of God.
Paul’s revelations are actually a message of freedom for women, rather than oppression as tradition at the time stated that only men could inherit within families and were therefore essential to the future of a women who could only inherit through marriage. Paul revealed that everyone is considered equal in terms of inheritance from the lord , an inspiring message for women oppressed under male authority that there is a better and God filled future as an independent woman.
How does God see us?
Through Jesus, we can get an understanding of howGod views us as devoted Christian women. Women were fearfully and wonderfully made by God’s hand (Psalm 139:14) and the actions of Jesus shows us just how much respect the Lord has for us.
There are so many examples of Jesus treating women with the upmost respect throughout the Bible, and there are lessons that we, and men, can take fro his actions, even in a society 2000 years after his life on earth.
Even in the old testament, before the birth of Christ, there are numerous tales of women succeeding with God’s assistance despite the challenges they faced and the societal restrictions put upon them.
The stories of Rahab, in Jesus’ own lineage, a prostitute in the city of Jericho who protected Israelite spies to protect her family and was rewarded when the city was rescued, and Ruth, who refused to abandon her mother-in-law Naomi at any cost, show clearly that God rewards those brave women who follow the path he makes for them.
These women are examples demonstrating that the right choice is not always the easy choice, and inspires modern Christian women to be independent, strong, and to follow their own path, even when it goes against societal norms and customs.
It is worth noting that the reason that men are dominant in the pages of the Bible, despite occasional and welcome reference to the equally important acts of women, is due to the patriarchal nature of society through the years, something that is still unfortunately present to some extent within society today.
We can only hope that in 2000 years time, Christians will be even more confused about the dominance of males in the Bible due to the equality present within society at that time.
God has a plan for us all and studying the women of the Bible and discussing with other women what lessons their actions can teach us that we can apply to our own lives can be hugely beneficial.
How do our London Women’s ministry groups meet?
Every Sunday our various London congregations meet for worship, prayer, and to listen to a message on the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.
Besides these weekly services, our women’s ministry also meet regularly for Bible studies, devotionals, prayer times, and social events. These meetings are an opportunity to meet other women looking to expand their faith who may be facing similar life challenges to your own.
Women’s ministry aims to support women in their Christian walk through friendship, love and discipleship, regardless of their background or social situation.
Our studies cover a huge range of different topics relevant to the life of a woman in the modern church and from an introduction to the word for a first-time scripture reader to in-depth examinations of certain books or topics.

Other Events
Besides the Sunday services, bible studies, and other structured devotional events available to women we also host and attend a range of other women only events, alongside our sister churches across the UK.
In the past we have attended weekend retreats in the lake district and taken part in a range of charity events within the local London community.
There are several women’s ministries located across London that come together on a regular basis to worship and meet other inspiring women in the community. These events allow us to grow closer to Jesus Christ by gaining inspiration from each other and encourage women across London to expand their fellowship and become more committed to prayer.
Our mission through women’s ministry is to provide spaces for women in the church to come closer to God and support each other as God’s people should.
